Revamped - Jan 2025
FMA REVAMPED!!
Friends of Music and the Arts (FMA) is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization committed to supporting and enriching the music, performing arts, and visual arts programs across all Scarsdale schools—from kindergarten through 12th grade.
FMA is proud to champion students through a wide range of initiatives in partnership with our schools, including equipment grants, student awards, and the renovation of the Scarsdale High School auditorium.
FMA Revamped brings “a new, student value-add focus” as its guiding mission for 2025 and beyond — emphasizing programs that enrich student learning, engagement, and artistic growth across the Scarsdale community.
Commencing in January 2025, new and reimagined activities will include:
Student-Led Performance Showcases – providing opportunities for students to curate, organize, and perform in chamber and solo recitals.
Mentorship & Coaching Circles – connecting young musicians with alumni, professional artists, and local educators for personalized guidance.
Arts in Action Community Events – collaborative concerts, exhibitions, and outreach projects linking students with local cultural institutions.
Creative Labs & Masterclasses – hands-on sessions exploring composition, improvisation, digital music production, and interdisciplinary arts.
College & Career Pathways in the Arts – info sessions and panels with college arts faculty, creative professionals, and FMA alumni.
Parent & Partner Engagement Series – coffee conversations and roundtables supporting parents’ roles in sustaining arts education.
FMA also supports parents and caregivers in their efforts to advocate for their children’s artistic journeys by offering:
• Social events for the arts community
• Dress Encore Program - recycling of SHS Band, Choir & Orchestra attire
• Exclusive member discounts on music, performing arts, and art supplies
Together, we foster a vibrant, inclusive, and inspiring environment where arts education can thrive in every Scarsdale school.
